He introduced that these artists all come from the China Academy of Art—one of China's most prestigious art institutions. Since its establishment in 1928, the Academy has been committed to promoting artistic innovation and global cultural exchange, and this exhibition vividly embodies that very spirit.

The Wangchuan Album: Remembering the Past》《天目山 Pavilion of Rain Blossoms》与《莲池 Lotus Pond》等。

On site, artists Huang Jun and Chen Lei, together with project curators Liu Xiao and Yang Gang, jointly conducted a guided tour for the guests, introducing the works on display. This event showcased the representative works of four Chinese ink artists: Huang Jun, Lin Haizhong, Chen Lei, and Li Tong. All of them graduated from the Chinese Painting Department of the China Academy of Art, inheriting a profound academic tradition. Their works not only reflect the brush-and-ink techniques characteristic of classical Chinese painting but also demonstrate distinct personal styles and a contemporary spirit.

The exhibited pieces included such refined works as A Moment of Respite, The Wangchuan Album: Remembering the Past, Pavilion of Rain Blossoms, and Lotus Pond. Through the guided tour and the appreciation of original artworks, the guests were able to deeply engage with and savor these exemplary creations.

As Professor Kong Lingwei wrote in the project preface, “Behind brush and ink lies the most genuine form of lyrical expression in Chinese culture.” As a significant initiative by the China Academy of Art to advance the international dissemination of art and strengthen disciplinary development, this project is dedicated to deepening cross-cultural understanding and expanding the global expressive pathways of Chinese art through systematic artistic presentation and academic dialogue. Aiming for multi-level and multi-dimensional content output, we strive to build a sustainable platform for Sino-foreign cultural exchange, foster in-depth artistic dialogue, and continuously enhance the global influence of the discipline.

Film Screenin

Following the opening ceremony and launch event, the English documentary Bamboo in Chinese Culture, produced by the China Academy of Art, was screened on site. The 47-minute film is based on the 2011 book of the same title by renowned art historian Professor Fan Jingzhong of the China Academy of Art. The English script was written by Yang Siliang, specially appointed professor of the Academy, who also served as art advisor.

Using bamboo as a thematic thread, the film presents cultural practices such as planting, utilizing, cherishing, writing about, and painting bamboo, systematically illustrating the profound connection between bamboo and both the material and spiritual life of the Chinese people. Through classic narratives including the legend of the Mottled Bamboo from Xiang River, bamboo artifacts from the Liangzhu culture, the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove, the Orchid Pavilion Preface, as well as artistic contributions by literati and women such as Du Fu, Su Shi, Zheng Banqiao, and Li Qingzhao, the documentary showcases the aesthetic taste of Chinese scholars embodied by bamboo and its symbolic significance in representing the Chinese spirit and character.

This screening also marked the film's European premiere. The content of the documentary resonates deeply with the theme of "brush and ink," expanding the sensory dimensions of cultural communication.
