宗旨：为应对世界视觉文化的发展态势，研究和营造中国模式的艺术生产消费体制，联合国内外著名艺术策划人、批评家、艺术家与学者，展开对艺术体制的研究与批判，共同思考中国艺术体制的现实与发展前景。中心身兼视觉文化研究和展览实验的双重功能，注重从实际操作中检验和发展视觉文化理论和展览操作模式，推动国内对于现代视觉制度的研究和反思。
